What it does

Turns battery voltage into the high voltage a spark plug needs. Many engines have one coil per cylinder.

Spark plug heat range and gap are set by the engine maker. Use the plug listed for your engine, not a near match.
On coil-on-plug engines a misfire code names the cylinder, which tells you which coil or plug to check first.
